Troubleshooting and FAQ
Answers to the messages you might see.
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "No scale — counts only" | Set the drawing's scale: see Set a drawing's scale. |
| "DWG can't be read in the browser yet" | Export the sheets to PDF from your CAD software and upload that. |
| "…this browser can't open TIFF" | Use Safari, or convert the file to PDF or PNG. |
| "A takeoff holds up to 50 drawings" | Adding plans to a takeoff stops at 50. Start a New project for the rest (it splits by section by itself), or untick pages you don't need. |
| "Read-only — someone else is editing this takeoff" | Wait for them, or use Take over editing. |
| "You're looking at an older version" | You're previewing history. Click Back to current, or Restore this version. |
| "N items aren't linked to a catalogue item" | Price them in Selection (+ Add catalog item) or delete them, then sync again. |
| "Catalogue item … is archived in Simpro" | Change those marks to a current item (Change item…). |
| "Quote #N is closed in Simpro" | Reopen the quote in Simpro, or create a new one. |
| "Sync failed and was undone" | Nothing was changed in Simpro. Check the message, fix it, and sync again. |
| "Offline — saved here" | No connection. Keep working: your changes send when you're back online. |
| "Not sent · N saved here" | You're offline with N changes waiting. They're kept on this device and send when the connection is back. |
| "You're offline." or "The server isn't responding right now." | Your changes are kept. The banner checks again by itself every few seconds, or click Try again. |
| "Job #N is complete" (or invoiced, or archived) | A job at that stage can't be updated. Choose another job, or create a new quote. |
| "AI isn't set up on the server yet, so the scale can't be detected." | Set the scale by ratio or by drawing a line instead. Ask your administrator to set up AI on the server. |
| "No marked dimension or written scale was found on this drawing." | Click Draw a line instead and measure something you know: see Set a drawing's scale. |
| An asset says "Simpro refused it" | Read the reason in its details, fix it, and tap Try again, or Don't create it. |
| "Scanned plan · marks only" | The sheet is a picture, so there are no drawing lines to snap to. Your own marks still snap. See Snap to the drawing's lines. |
| "Drawing lines unavailable" | The plan's lines couldn't be read. Click Retry. Until then only your marks snap. |
| "Pitch is degrees (0–80) or rise:run, e.g. 22.5 or 1:4." | Type the pitch as degrees (22.5), rise:run (1:4) or a grade (30%), up to 80°. Clear the box for no pitch. |
| "Every point already has a label." | Number all only numbers points with no label. To number them all again, use Renumber…. |
| A dimension reads "no scale" | The sheet has no scale yet. Set it, and the dimension measures itself: see Set a drawing's scale. |
| "The camera isn't allowed" | Allow camera access for the site in your browser's settings, or take a photo of the tag instead. |
Common questions
Does deleting an asset from the map delete it in Simpro?
No. Removing it from the map only removes its location. The asset stays in Simpro.
Can I record test results on the map?
Not yet. Tests are recorded in Simpro, and the map shows the latest result and when the next one is due.
Will updating the quote overwrite lines someone added in Simpro?
No. Updating only touches the lines this takeoff created. If someone changed one of those, you choose whether to keep their change.
I pressed Shift and A and got an arrow, not an area
Shift with T, A, C, D, P or H picks a markup tool. Press A on its own for Area. See Keyboard shortcuts.
The point jumps to a line I don't want
Hold Alt as you click to skip snapping once, untick Drawing in the Snap menu (Alt P), or press P to turn snapping off.
Where are my changes saved?
On the server, as you work, and on this computer if you're offline. Versions in History let you go back.
